Reconstitution Basics
Most peptides arrive as lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder and must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before use.
Step-by-Step Reconstitution
Calculating Your Dose
Formula: (Desired dose in mcg ÷ Total peptide in vial in mcg) × Volume of water added in mL × 1000 = Units on insulin syringe
Example: 2mg vial + 2mL water. For a 200mcg dose: (200 ÷ 2000) × 2 × 1000 = 20 units
Syringe Selection
Use U-100 insulin syringes (29-31 gauge) for subcutaneous injections. These minimize discomfort and are the industry standard for peptide administration.
Injection Sites
Best subcutaneous sites: abdomen (2 inches from navel), outer thigh, or upper arm. Rotate sites to prevent lipodystrophy.
Storage After Reconstitution
Reconstituted peptides should be refrigerated (2-8°C) and used within 30 days. Never freeze reconstituted peptides.
Conclusion
Proper reconstitution and dosing is critical for both safety and efficacy. When in doubt, start with conservative doses and titrate upward.
